The Reading Hall

The Reading Hall has a capacity of 130 seats for study, with contemporary IT and Telecom equipment (wireless network and network infrastructure), access to digital libraries and the ability to borrow books and magazines. Users can use personal computers to log into the University wireless network.

The Reading Hall is a quiet space: users are required to avoid noise and to respect those who are studying. The consumption of food and drink in the Reading Hall is forbidden.

The Reading Hall staff can help with the following tasks:

Book Lending:

  • Users with a lending card from the Central Library of the School of Sciences, can borrow books and other documents from the Reading Hall.

  • Users who don't have a lending card, can borrow books with their ID card, for reading in the Reading Hall.

More details about the lending card and the Borrowing Regulations can be found on the website of the Central Library of the School of Science (www.lib.uoa.gr/sci) and the website of the Reading Hall.

Users should first seek the titles they wish to borrow through the OPAC catalog of the University of Athens.

Theses:

Students have to submit their theses to the Reading Hall (Bachelor, Master's, and Doctoral theses). For formatting and printing requirements see "Useful Documents" in the Reading Hall's site (http://lib.di.uoa.gr).

 

To Change Windows Passwords:

Send email to itsupport [at] di.uoa.gr, from your di.uoa.gr email account with the following information: 

  • Subject: Change Windows Password [username of your account] 

  • Text: Name, Student Registration Number, department email, undergraduate or graduate, track (for M.Sc.), cause of change / issue.

To Change Linux / Unix Passwords:

Send email to admin [at] di.uoa.gr, from your di.uoa.gr email account with the following information:  

  • Subject: Change Linux Password [username of your account] 

  • Text: Name, Student Registration Number, department email, undergraduate or graduate, track (for M.Sc.), cause of change / issue.

Card Keys:

Procedure for after-hours access:

Τhe supervising/collaborating Professor has to send email from ...[at]di.uoa.gr to library[at]di.uoa.gr, cc-ing the beneficiary and listing his/her name and capacity. The beneficiary should also email library[at]di.uoa.gr with the following information: Surname, Name, ID number, Office Phone number. The card will be picked up from the Reading Hall (ID is required).

 

Hours of Operation:

The Reading Hall is open from Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 19:00. During public holidays, as defined by the Rector's Council, the Reading Hall is closed. During break periods (Christmas, Easter, Summer) the schedule is adjusted accordingly.
