Ph.D. candidates conduct research under the supervision of department faculty, who have extensive international research experience in their respective fields of study.
The results of doctoral research regularly appear in top-level conferences and journals, published by the chief international organizations in Computer Science and Telecommunications: the Αssociation for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Computer Society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
In most cases Ph.D. candidates are supported through substantial sponsored projects by various funding sources (European Union, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Development). The department’s research activities are also supported via collaborations with computer industry in Europe, the USA, and Asia.
The department’s setting enables high-quality doctoral research, through modern computing equipment (hardware and software) as well as support for the regular participation of Ph.D. candidates in top international conferences of their research area, where the most significant scientific developments are presented.
Ph.D. graduates of the department often follow a research career in universities or research centers, or continue on to R&D positions in international computing and telecommunications corporations.
