Modes of propagation,free space propagation, attenuation function, earth surface electrical properties (permittivity, conductivity), reflection coefficient, propagation of surface waves, radio horizon, LOS and NLOS propagation, diffraction, obstructed propagation, Fresnel zones, surface roughness. Atmospheric effects, refraction coefficient, tropospheric propagation, equivalent earth radius, ducting, atmospheric absorption and scattering, rain attenuation. Wireless communication systems and link budget, path loss models, range and radio coverage. Multipath propagation, fade margin, availability and system margin. Diversity techniques. Software tolls in wireless communications.
